Empowerment Center:

The New Chapel Community Empowerment Center(Empowerment Center) was completed in April 2003. Kairos was the Project Manager for this vital community facility. The Empowerment Center provides a vast array of services for children, youth, adults and seniors. Offering a high level of public services and creating economic opportunities for both neighborhood and area residents enhance and sustain social networks and positive changes in communities. Activities include computer training, training in catering, homebuyers' seminars, and other after-school, evening and weekend learning and recreational programs.

The Empowerment Center's three main components are: full gymnasium (that may be used as a multipurpose area), four large Internet ready classrooms (training and skill development), and a commerical kitchen (catering services and feeding programs).

Kairos negotiated a partnership with Crossland High School Culinary Arts Department (Department) that permits the department youths to earn valuable funds for college and personal support and gain invaluable job skills experience. The Department provides culinary arts classes and participates in catering and feeding programs. The Department provides catering support for Kairos, NCBC and other interested individuals, organizations and businesses.
