In the summer of 2007, the state was facing a mortgage foreclosure crisis with many families facing the potential loss of their home. Prince Georges County unfortunately continues to account for more than 30% of all foreclosure filings. We began to take mortgage foreclosure and delinquency prevention classes in August of 2007 with Neighborworks so we could provide mortgage foreclosure and delinquency prevention counseling for families facing the potential loss of their home. Providing face to face counseling since 2007, we have counseled over 1200 households saving many from the losing their homes. We attend a number of community workshops throughout the state providing face to face counseling, we also provide group education counseling sessions but have not found them to be very successful. Our target market is southern Prince Georges County; HOPE grantess are strategically located in the county to get maximum impact. |
